Love and luck in the National Folklore Survey for England

Love and luck in the National Folklore Survey for England

Did you celebrate Valentine's Day last Sunday?

If you did, then you did so with nearly half the population of England.

That’s one of the latest findings from the National Folklore Survey for England (of which the Folklore Society is a project partner).

The latest findings from the Survey - which was launched last year - was focused on love and luck and was released to tie in with St Valentine’s Day. It caught the eye of BBC News who asked. ‘Are 'love locks' a threat to historic bridges?’ (a topic which is also a research area of Dr Ceri Houlbrook, co-lead on the Survey and a current Council member of the Folklore Society).

We look forward to further releases from the Survey and more episodes of their new podcast series, Folklore Matters.
