How to Join

Membership of The Folklore Society is by subscription to our journal Folklore, published by Taylor & Francis/Informa, in 4 issues per year. Individual and Household Members of The Folklore Society receive for their annual subscription:

4 print issues of our journal Folklore (March, June, September and December)
3 issues of our newsletter FLS News (February, June and November)
Invitations to our online talks, events and conferences, some free, others at reduced rates
Access to the Society’s information service and our Library, which is stored at University College London.

Access to the Members Only area of our website for the following resources:

link to freely access tandfonline.com archive of Folklore from 1890 to the most recent issue and our earlier titles Folklore Record (1878-1882) and Folklore Journal (1883-1888)

Please be aware that The Folklore Society office will close for the Christmas and New Year period on Monday 21 December 2026 at 5:30pm GMT and reopen on Monday 4th January at 9:30am GMT. We will be unable to respond to enquiries during this time but will reply to your email when we return to the office on 4th January. Please join by Monday 14th December in order for your membership to be confirmed before Christmas.
