We are delighted to announce that our annual Katharine Briggs Lecture will be delivered by Dr Yinka Olusoga (University of Sheffield), on Tuesday 10 November 2026 at The Warburg Institute in London.
Her lecture title is: 'Carving, Mining, Weaving and Forging of Identities, Connection and Belonging: A personal exploration of children’s folklife and why it matters.'
The evening will also the feature the announcement of the winner of the Katharine Briggs Award for 2026, awarded to the entry judged to have made the most distinguished contribution to folklore studies over the last year.
The Lecture and Award commemorate the life and work of the distinguished scholar Katharine Mary Briggs (1898-1980), who was president of the Folklore Society between 1969 and 1972.
