Council nominations now open

Nominations are now open for Folklore Society members to join The Folklore Society’s Council, for a three-year term of office from September 2026 to September 2029. This is an opportunity to join the Society’s decision-making body, putting our policies into practice and taking the study of folklore forward.
What’s involved?
- attendance at 3 or 4 meetings per year. Meetings are hybrid (in-person at 50 Fitzroy Street, London W1T 5BT, and online) and Council members attending in person can claim reasonable travel expenses.
- helping to run FLS events, conferences and other initiatives as agreed.
Who is eligible to stand?
Any current Folklore Society member may nominate themselves.
How do I stand?
A link to the nomination form is in the members area of The Folklore Society website. Go to https://www.folklore-society.com/members/#members_9, log in and complete the online self-nomination form. All members have also been sent an email with the link.
The deadline for completed nomination forms is 17:00 BST, Saturday 15 August 2026.
What happens next?
The election will be held at The Folklore Society’s Annual General Meeting, on Tuesday 15 September 2026. As a current member you’ll receive an invitation to this meeting; whether or not you attend, we’ll contact you after the meeting to advise the outcome of your nomination.
